Search Engine Optimisation Basics
Search Engine Optimisation brings together 2 components, on-page and off-page SEO.
We are focusing on on-page SEO to show you what you can do to help improve your website ranking in search engines like Google.
What is On-Page SEO?
On-Page SEO are elements on a website page that you can control. There are three factors that make up On-Page SEO:
- Technical Elements
- User Experience (UX)
Technical elements of a web page include making sure your website isn’t blocked from Google’s bot crawlers. A website needs to be crawled and indexed by Google before it can be found in search engine results. When somebody enters a keyword in Google that matches or is similar to your keyword, Google will calculate your website ranking against all of the other web pages to determine where you will rank in the results.
The content, or information on your website is very important for two reasons.
Google indexes your website content to determine where the website will rank in search results.
Engages and connects with visitors to your website with the goal of converting these visitors to clients.
Developing quality content is a process that starts with keyword research. By researching keywords you will have an insight into the monthly search volumes. Popular keywords/phrases included in your content will help with search engine rankings.
User Experience (UX)
A fast, clean and easy to navigate website provides the most successful user experience. If it is difficult to find information or navigate through your website, your visitors will quickly leave and find a competitor’s website that works for them.
Focusing on these elements of on-page search engine optimisation will contribute to improved website rankings in search engines. The goal is to engage visitors and convert them to clients.
